“The classroom teacher has been assigning me meaningful tasks based on my strengths and I’ve come to bond with the students, identifying with each one in a special way.” - volunteer
We need volunteers over the age of 18 years old to help in a variety of ways to support students and teachers. Volunteers come from all walks of life and bring a multitude of experiences to share with students. Seniors offer life experience and professional expertise. New Canadians can explain concepts with students in their mother tongue. University students are great role models and mentors who share their own postsecondary experiences with students. Every volunteer has something special to offer. Research shows that students benefit from the attention of a caring adult.
Volunteer tasks will vary depending on the needs of the particular school. However, the following examples are typical areas where volunteer help is often needed.
