Welcome to the OCDSB Educators' Page

Ottawa Volunteers in Education (OVIE) provides a matching service to link community volunteers with the needs of individual students and teachers in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.

All volunteers are thoroughly screened and have a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).

Please review the School Volunteer Management Handbook for Educators for details on how to manage volunteers in the schools.

Educators can request screened volunteers from OVIE directly through this online form or by contacting Anne Brouillard or Lee-Ann Scott on OCDSB google mail.

Volunteers are able to support you in a variety of ways:

    • Classroom volunteers assisted with whatever you need to get done each day.
    • Assistive technology trained volunteers offer much needed extra training for students using AT.
    • Math tutors experienced using Gap Closing materials offer one-on-one support in the classroom.
    • English Second Language and English Language Development trained volunteers are ready and willing to help your Newcomers.
    • Guidance department support assisting students in scholarship and resume writing.
    • Volunteers run clubs at lunch time and assist on school trips.

Whenever you hear yourself saying, "I wish I had more time and resources to do..." think about it - could a volunteer help you?
