The Capital Educators’ Awards recognize the achievements of outstanding educators and celebrates public education in our community – across the entire spectrum from kindergarten to PhD. Award recipients are announced at a gala dinner and ceremony each spring, aptly called EduGala.
All educators who have classroom teaching responsibilities at one of our ten partner institutions in Ottawa are eligible to be nominated for a Capital Educators’ Award. Anyone can submit a nomination.
Finalists are selected by the participating institutions. A community panel of judges then selects the award recipients. All finalists are invited to attend EduGala, and the Award recipients are announced that evening.
The 12th annual EduGala will be held on May 23, 2013 at Algonquin College. Click HERE to register and purchase tickets to EduGala 2013!

BACKGROUND: In 2001, the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE), in partnership with a group of business and education leaders launched the annual Capital Educators' Awards and gala celebration - aptly named Edugala - to raise the profile of public education and to recognize and celebrate the dedication and achievements of our local educators. These awards are unique; Ottawa is the only community in Canada that celebrates the contributions of its educators across the whole spectrum of education from elementary to post-secondary.
PARTNERS: Edugala is made possible through partnerships with the following 10 local education institutions: Algonquin College, La Cité Collégiale, Carleton University, University of Ottawa, Saint Paul University, Dominican College University, Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est, Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario, Ottawa Catholic School Board, Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, as well as through support from corporations and foundations who share ONFE's belief in the importance of celebrating excellence in education in our community.
